Diocese of Phoenix statement on resignation of Pope Benedict XVI

The Diocese of Phoenix released the following statement Monday on the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

It has not been altered in any way.

We are grateful to God for the life and leadership of Pope Benedict XVI. He has been a remarkable witness to the Gospel throughout his lifetime of service to the Church. As the successor of St. Peter, he shepherds us with wisdom, grace and love. We encourage the faithful to join us in offering up our prayers for the Holy Father as he enters into the next stage of his life.
