listen Listen: Greg Stanton - Phoenix Mayor
Check out Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton's thoughts on gun control and Sheriff Arpaio's volunteer posse being trained for active shooter training by Steven Seagal.

On Wednesday, KTAR's Mac and Gaydos spoke with Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton on the issues of gun control and Sheriff Joe Arpaio's posses.

Arpaio wishes to put armed posses outside of local schools and plans to host a training event with actor Steven Seagal this weekend to prepare and educate interested volunteers.

"The idea that you have armed posses outside of schools is not something that I support," Stanton stressed. "But, I do support more attempt to get resource officers in schools not just from a safety perspective but also because the incredible benefit that those resource officers provide to children in terms of education and in terms of a trusting relationship."

While Arpaio favors more protection in and around schools, Stanton stated that he had a much different concern regarding the national gun crisis.

"We can't just do nothing, but we've got to be smart about it," said Stanton. "In my opinion, being smart about it involves not a single approach or a one-size-fits-all one things gonna solve the worlds problems we have to be smart about it and that why a more com approach which includes by the way one of the most difficult issues our so has to approach how do we better manage the mental health system."

Although Stanton admitted that fixing the mental health care system won't be an easy task, he remains a firm believer that it's a necessary action when dealing with the country's gun issue.

    Pretty worthless..
...story. The only gun issue he mentioned was Sheriff Arpaio's posses at the schools which he didn't agree with. Stanton has stated previously he is pro gun control. Member of Bloombergs Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Another democrat bent on disarming the American people so they can have complete control over every aspect of our lives. He a traitor and it's called tyranny.

We don't have a gun issue
any more than we have a car issue with regard to drunk driving. Stanton needs to get his head out of his butt. More brainwashing of our kids to be obedient to authority and continue this ridiculous war on boys is an atrocity. Parents who aren't now pulling their kids out of these worthless brainwashing camps are derelict in their duties as parents. The only reasonable response is resistance.

    Existing background checks have
initially prevented millions of would be prohibited possessors from getting their hands on firearms with which to perpetrate their gun violence. An expanded background check system would do even more good for society. Mayor Stanton and reasonable gun owners, including a majority of NRA members support this public good. Gun nuts and the NRA leadership think we should make it as easy as possible for the bad guys to get, conceal and use those weapons to perpetrate gun violence against the rest of us. Why? NRA leaders profit no matter who uses a gun or how. Gun nuts are nuts.

    Michoacan, there you...
...go with your ignorant rhetoric. Just repeating what you hear the media says. Do you understand independent thought and reasoning? Every anti-gunner is either ignorant of the facts or just ignores the facts as they do not fit their agenda of gun control. Why is it they keep asking the same worn out questions which they have been given the answers to numerous times, use old deflated arguments and only repeat most times word for word what they hear by MSM and politicians?

If we really want to be "smart" about it then people like Mayor Stanton, Chris Rock, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Tony Bennett should stay out of it. The problem is that these folks don't realize that they are not smart enough to contribute and think that they are smarter and more entitled than the rest of us. Any one of our founding fathers was smarter that the whole group of these progtard elitist snobs.
