Arizona Cardinals are long shot to win 2014 Super Bowl

Feb 4, 2013, 5:00 AM | Updated: 6:23 am

Super Bowl XLVII is officially in the books.

Now we can start talking about who is going to win next year’s game.

The San Francisco 49ers had a great season in 2012-13, and a Las Vegas oddsmaker said they’ll be back in the title game next year.

“The 49ers are the favorite to win next year, at 6-to-1,” said Chuck Esposito of Sunset Station Casino. “They’re closely followed by the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos, the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.”

Other oddsmakers pick the Patriots to win. Who is at the bottom?

“Unfortunately, it’s Jacksonville, and the next team up is the Arizona Cardinals,” said Esposito. “The Jaguars are a 150-to-1 shot to win it all, while the Cardinals are 100-to-1.

Esposito said there are just too many questions about new head coach Bruce Arians and about Arizona’s offense.

“Will the coach be able to get Larry Fitzgerald on track?” said Esposito. “Where will the running game be? Who is going to be playing quarterback for them?”

But, he said, if the team can add a few free agents, “Who knows?”

Things could turn around for the Cards.

We want to hear from you.
