Goodyear police have apprehended a bank robbery suspect who was believed to have an explosive device strapped to her body at the scene.

According to a release, after fleeing the Wells Fargo Bank located at 13470 W. Van Buren, police arrested the woman in a white mini-van at approximately 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday. Authorities were unable to find any explosives despite searching the vehicle with the special assistance unit robot.

The 30-year-old suspect, Alegria Perez, remains in custody on charges of robbery and unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle.
