Stolen saguaros cost Scottsdale man $32K
PHOENIX -- A Scottsdale man has been sentenced to pay restitution of $32,000 and spend eight months of weekends in jail plus five years of probation for stealing cactus from federal land in 2010.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for Arizona said 46-year-old Kenneth Brian Cobb took eight saguaro from federal land near Wickenburg and sold them.
He pleaded guilty last September to theft of government property and a violation of the Endangered Species Act.
Cobb was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.
