Sen. John McCain released the following statement after President Barack Obama threw his support behind an immigration reform movement on Tuesday.

The statement has not been altered in any way.

"I appreciate the President's support for our bipartisan effort on comprehensive immigration reform. While there are some differences in our approaches to this issue, we share the belief that any reform must recognize America as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. We should all agree that border security and enforcement is particularly important in order to ensure that we don't repeat the mistakes of the 1986 immigration reform. The road ahead will be not be easy, but I am cautiously optimistic that working together, we can find common ground and move forward on this vitally important issue."

    Obama... what a poser.
Obama would like to make people think that this is something that he came up with. McCain was trying to reform immigration law before Obama was even an elected official. Most will somehow conveniently forget this though. Sheesh...
Politically incorrect and proud of it.

    McCain you are a traitor.
Ok, so make it easier for people to come here and work, like open borders? But at the same time protect what workers? American workers or all workers including those from other countries? If you say you are protecting American workers by bringing in foreign workers I do not see how that works. Same number of jobs, more workers, doesn't add up. If you say you are protecting both, not only are you still not protecting American workers, you're hurting them futher by protecting the outside workers.

    McCain only wants
to try to get more Hispanic voters as they will vote for who ever makes it eaier for them to get into this country and get jobs for all their relatives and friends in Mexico.
