2 die, 4 seriously hurt in Phoenix freeway crash
PHOENIX -- Authorities have released the names of two Phoenix women killed in a crash on the Loop 202 freeway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said 42-year-old Josefina Holguin-Urquiza and 19-year-old Silvia Mistica Rivera Holguin were both declared dead at the scene.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday near 44th Street.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Scott McDonald said two vehicles collided causing one to land upside down. Four other people including a toddler were seriously injured.
DPS officials said the driver of an SUV with four passengers was outside the vehicle dealing with a deflated tire when a pickup truck collided with it. That caused the SUV to roll over on its roof.
Authorities said a front-seat passenger in the SUV and a passenger in the pickup were killed.
