TUCSON, Ariz. — A 28-year-old man is being held on attempted murder charges after Pima County Sheriff's deputies say he choked his ex-girlfriend's infant several times.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said Saturday that Jeremy Millis was arrested after investigators determined the 8-month-old baby boy left in his care has been choked.

The baby's mother told deputies that she found her son unresponsive and had left the baby with Millis.

Authorities say the infant remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

It was unclear if Millis had hired an attorney.

After so very many of these stories.....
it is just unbelievable, that over and over again, these mothers leave their babies with a boyfriend. I have grown daughters. My eldest was repeatedly molested in a relative's home, by another relative. She has a lot of problems, and anger over this. He went to prison over it. Now she has a daughter, in school. Through the years I have told her: don't let a man babysit your daughter. She's had more boyfriends than I can count, and many have watched her daughter. Fool. Not all men are bad. The odds are not good. No chances! I'm her dad.

How to get out the word to families ~
When a baby is in the family and mother works, important for relatives to offer their services rather than take a chance on a boyfriend harming baby. There are many places to leave the baby - there are outlets through churches and service organizations, some senior citizen clubs offer babysitting services - some major companies have babysitting on the premises for their employees. Probably most of these incidents never make the news. Information should be given to the mother when the baby is born, before leaving the hospital.

No, that would be cruel and unusual. This country is unusual.
