TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson police said an officer fatally shot an armed man who was the subject of a chase following a stickup of a midtown convenience store.

Sgt. Maria Hawke said the shooting occurred Friday morning after the man crashed his car in an alley and then got out of vehicle.

A patrol officer began the chase after seeing a vehicle matching the description of one reportedly used in the robbery.

Police are investigating whether the man was involved a series of armed robberies Thursday.
