Economists to weigh in on Arizona economy

PHOENIX -- Public and private economists weigh in on the state of Arizona's economy Thursday as legislative budget analysts evaluate Arizona's fiscal health.
The economists serve on the Finance Advisory Committee. That group provides input to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee staff.
The budget staff uses analysis by the economists as one element in preparing a state revenue forecast that largely hinges on economic projections. Their projection released earlier this week was slightly less rosy than one given last week by Gov. Jan Brewer's top budget official.
A revenue forecast is a key element in writing a new state budget and one of the top duties facing legislators when they begin starts their six-month session last week.
