FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Flagstaff police are stepping up patrols in the city's downtown bar scene because of rowdy behavior.

Deputy Chief Walt Miller said police have been dealing with intoxicated people who get into fights and other misbehavior.

The number of officers patrolling downtown at bar closing time has been doubled from three to six in the past six months.

The Arizona Daily Sun reported that police are stepping in to immediately break up fights and urging bars to banish troublemakers from the nightspots.
