Some Valley high school students received a first-hand lesson in American politics on Monday morning.

Thirty-five Hamilton High School students flew to Washington, D.C. to tour the area and attend the inauguration of President Barack Obama. One student, Zak Ghali, said it was his chance to witness "history in the making."

"I'd like to experience democracy first-hand," he said, adding that he hopes to meet a congressman.

Another student, Paula Beatty, said the trip was in the works for about six months.

"I'm excited to see Obama and stuff we hear about, like the Capitol, in real life."

The students are scheduled to return home Tuesday night.

Lets hope that the pendulum will swing the other way like it has when people have had enough. May the American public know we are at a crossroad and the choice is either Capitalism that goes hand & hand with freedom. Or Socialism were they expect that there government is to take care of them from cradle to grave. Wise up people it is all just an illusion. No society is prefect and we are not all going to be living in Strawberry Fields forever as the Beatle's finally came to realize along with my generation. It will put you in chains Socialism or Marxism.
