A National Rifle Association board member said he will not back an Arizona bill designed to limit federal gun control.

According to Salon.com, Todd Rathner said House Bill 2291 could put a lot of pressure on Arizona gun dealers.

"I worry about putting federal firearms licensees in the middle of a fight between us and the federal government," he said. "It puts them between a rock and a hard place because they worry about committing a federal crime or a state crime."

According to Talking Points Memo, House Bill 2291 would make it a felony for an federal employee to enforce federal laws on firearms and ammunition that are produced in Arizona and stay in Arizona.

The bill would also make any new federal laws restricting semi-automatic firearms and magazines, or requiring any form of firearm registration, unenforceable in Arizona.

The bill may not pass, but Arizona Republicans said it is intended to send a message to both the president and Congress. Rathner said he supports the message the bill sends.

Other states, such as Mississippi, Texas and Tennessee are considering similar bills.

    Dont talk to tigers, shoot
the only reason someone would own a firearm, to kill another human being, of evil intent. If you were confronted by a hungry tiger, who wants to kill you, would you want the odds in your favor to have a weapon to defend yourself, or would you lilke to talk to the tiger, and work out your indifferences. The animal kingdom is a violent kingdom, and us humans, as one of the members of that kingdom, have yet to evolve to a perfectly civil society. Shoot the tiger, and live

You could also look at it
from the standpoint that voters don't want new taxes, or increase in taxes to provide for more law enforcement officers, so many feel the need to arm themselves to make up for the declining LEO workforce. Maybe we are all to blame for the surge in weapons. Maybe this is something that has been in the works for many years because we couldn't be bothered with another 1/2 cent tax increase. We want it all, we just don't want to pay for it.

    Kudos . . .
to the introducers of that bill. We need to do what we can to stop the encroachment upon the most fundamental of our liberties. This is a no-brainer-vote for legislators, and will distinguish the defenders of our state and our country from the imposters.

Yes, thanks for introducing the Bill. We will see which ones we have elected to office stand to up hold our Constitution Rights. Then we vote any legislator out that is not willing to up hold the 2nd Amendment because they need to go. The ones that make No vote have got to GO. That is how this President made his way into the Oval Office by not voting as a Senator. He didn't cast a vote the majority of the time. That way no one knew where he stood and it didn't bring any attention to himself. That is why he came from no where.

Don't bring up England and demonstrate your abject ignorance on the topic. Since banning firerarms, Englands violent crime rate has soared and is 3.5 times higher than violent crime in the US per capita. Does that even register with you useful idiots? Would you prefer to live somewhere where you were 250% more likely to be be robbed, beaten, raped, assaulted or murdered? Where the police arrive well over 98% of the time AFTER the violence has been committed to perform an investigation and fill out paperwork? As others have metioned, it isn't about crime - but since you idiots bring it up...
