A National Rifle Association board member said he will not back an Arizona bill designed to limit federal gun control.

According to Salon.com, Todd Rathner said House Bill 2291 could put a lot of pressure on Arizona gun dealers.

"I worry about putting federal firearms licensees in the middle of a fight between us and the federal government," he said. "It puts them between a rock and a hard place because they worry about committing a federal crime or a state crime."

According to Talking Points Memo, House Bill 2291 would make it a felony for an federal employee to enforce federal laws on firearms and ammunition that are produced in Arizona and stay in Arizona.

The bill would also make any new federal laws restricting semi-automatic firearms and magazines, or requiring any form of firearm registration, unenforceable in Arizona.

The bill may not pass, but Arizona Republicans said it is intended to send a message to both the president and Congress. Rathner said he supports the message the bill sends.

Other states, such as Mississippi, Texas and Tennessee are considering similar bills.

    I ask any and all..... what law could stop criminals from acquiring a gun that would not infringe on a law abiding citizens right to protect themselves? I'm sure Congress would welcome any suggestions since they cant seem to find one. Frankly I believe the law abiding citizen has given up enough of their rights and freedom for the sake of "safety" when truth be told none of them make much of an impact on crime! How's that strict gun control working out in Chicago? And any other place there is a "gun free zone"? Its not a coincidence that's where most of the mass shootings take place!

    through the last couple of years of Arizona gun legislation. "Senate Bill 1108 into law Friday afternoon. It eliminates the requirement for a concealed-carry weapons permit..." The Gangster Protection Law allows criminally oriented drive byers, convenience store robbers, and innocent citizen muggers to set up their crimes without worrying that some eagle eyed, suspicious cop is going to conduct a Terry Frisk. Gangsters can just dog the cop and say, "Yeah I got a gun, what of it?" Gotta love Arizona's liberal gun laws.

    edjumacated on the CCW. What can I say, it was required for my job. But I couldn't find anything on the Gangster Protection Law. Being on the Right enables me to admit to my mistakes and learn from them. Not so for the Left.

    There are no laws that would stop gun violence, that is a known fact. This isn't about stopping gun violence, this is about taking away guns, trampling the 2nd amendment. Progressives believe they are the ones who know better and want to tell us how to live. lf politicans didn't change the constitution as the founding fathers set it up, we would have peace, happiness and prosperity.

    fair warning .. if you are a criminal dont come to AZ we got guns with no gun control laws meaning you will get shot. You better go to a state that has gun control laws. you can commit your crime with no resistance, how cool is that. the freedom to commit a crime and get away with it but not in AZ.

    In the Sandy Hook tragedy the suspect violated 41 laws. Does anyone believe that this would have been prevented had there been 42 laws?     dregstudios! maybe you should look south to the nearest place that has beheading take a look and educate yourself, there's are you're gun laws, how do they protect themselves! They don't and can't But all the criminals have guns don't they! Are you blind to those facts, Then Look at Switzerland and realize what does work! Regardless, I won't have anyone stripping me of rights put there to protect me and my family! PERIOD.
