TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pima Community College may give in-state tuition breaks to students who qualify under the federal government's deferred-deportation program.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that the college's governing board will consider the matter on Feb. 27.

Arizona residents who are full-time students at Pima now pay 63.50 per credit-hour. Nonresidents pay $319 per credit-hour.

The Maricopa County Community College District in the Phoenix area already provides in-state tuition discounts to students issued federal work permits under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The program is for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and who have no felony convictions.

The Federal Government ignores the law and then we entitle them more with education breaks? Just think how much less of a mess immigration would be if our own government enforced the laws, companies and entities didn't entice them with handouts.

    So let me
get this straight. Is this like in California where illegals get in state tuition? I get it, come from another state from this country and pay out of state tuition but come from another country completely and get in state tuition. Makes total sense for our upside down thinking these days.

    bad idea
but those who are legal immigrants will have to pay more. not fair. It encourages immigrants to cross the border the wrong way and provide false documentation.

    So
Again, the government confuses an illegal invader with an actual citizen?

The government is not responsible for the citizenship of illegals. If you are under the age of 18, then it is your parents responsiblity not the government. If you are over the age of 18, then go BACK to you country of orgin and start the process there.

It makes sense to try and recoup the
educational investments already made in these young people. Most of them, with little or no roots in their counteies of origin have vast talent to offer our economy.

Of course this makes perfect sence....
My daughter moved out of state with her mother, as a minor, then she came back here and lived with me. She was 'out of state'. My present wife, immigrated LEGALLY, and we paid all the fees, both had background checks, and she had to pass a physical and we waited till she could come LEGALLY. She went back to school, and was 'out of state.' Let us reward the cheators and punish those who follow the rules. I do understand the hardships many people have. I am paying for educating relatives in another country.

Lest we forget the parents of these kids are most likely illegal aliens and they including the children should return to their home Countries. They learned to adapt here, they can learn to adapt at home.

I'm sorry how is this fair when a US citizen who comes from another state has to pay full tuition and illegal lawbreaker can take advantage of in-state tuition?
