Flu isn’t only virus going around Arizona

PHOENIX — Nurses and doctors have their hands full trying to help patients coming in for treatment.

Emergency medicine physician Kara Geren said the main culprit is the flu, but there are a variety of viruses going around that are making people sick.

For most patients who are suffering from something other than the flu, there is no quick cure. The end result from a visit to the emergency room would be a waste of time.

Geren’s advice is over-the-counter pain medication, lots of fluids and frequent washing of hands.

Geren also suggested that people who are struggling to keep fluids down, or suffering chest pain and shortness of breath should immediately go to an emergency room.
