TEMPE, Ariz. — Over 20,000 people from all over the country are expected to converge on Tempe this weekend for the 10th annual P.F. Chang’s Rock n’ Roll Marathon.
Maria Walton of Phoenix is running in her 10th marathon and said it’s still a thrill.
“I love sunshine,” she said. “I love being with my friends. You share an experience that so few people in this world do, sadly. It’s just a celebration of being outdoors. There’s not a greater place to be.”
She’s one of 170 runners who have run in every Phoenix P.F. Chang’s race since 2004. This year’s event features both a full- and half-marathon, a bike tour, live music and an expo at the Phoenix Convention Center, among other things.
