Hugh Hallman was elected mayor of Tempe in 2004 and remained in that role until last year.

Now according to the Phoenix Business Journal, it appears Hallman may have his sights set on a higher office.

The former mayor stated the following on his personal website Friday:

"Over the next few months, I will be traveling the state of Arizona to speak with and listen to people from all walks of life about what's really important to them in their state government, and how we can address our priorities successfully."

Hallman may face steep competition from the likes of Douge Ducey, Ken Bennett, Richard Carmona, Fred DuVal and Phoenix mayor Greg Stanton.
