PHOENIX -- Federal immigration officials said they're releasing the mother of an immigration activist after the mother and another relative were arrested at the family's Phoenix-area home.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement also said it did not target the relatives of activist Erika Andiola because of her role with the DREAM Act Coalition.

Andiola said ICE agents said there was a long-pending deportation order for her mother but that she questioned whether that prompted the arrest.

The mother and a brother of Andiola were arrested Thursday evening. The brother was released early Friday, while the mother was transported to an immigration detention center in Florence.

Another brother said the family has been told by the Mexican consulate in Mexico that the mother would be released after being returned to Phoenix.

I almost forgot, the other ethnic backgrounds in me, some of those relatives came here through Ellis Island, before that, had 2 relatives fight to free the slaves in the Civil War. I also had both grandfathers fight in WWII along with a few great uncles. One of those grandfathers is where my Native American comes into my bloodline. :-)

Calling people a "white crack" only shows your lack of intelligence and inability to present a valid argument. BTW, I am pretty sure there are no more slave owners alive today...blaming those of us who are alive is simply rediculous.

The sign says STOP SEPARATING OUR FAMILIES
Don't they separate from their family when they leave the country they come from? 'We're' not separating them from their families. They're leaving by their own choice. If they want to be so close to their family maybe they should pack it up and head back across whichever border they crossed to get here.

Yeah so what if you do have native american blood, what did YOU do to earn the right to be here...and who are you to say who stays and who leaves, earth is our home and boarders are just walls on land.

    I'm Latino, but...
I'm still appalled that our country is allowing this to happen. My mother had to jump through all the hoops to become a citizen before it was rightfully granted to her after several years. THEN, she started having children (back in the '80s). Now, apparently all you have to do is break into the country and you're good? How does that serve those who DO go through the process legally? Why even bother if it's as easy as illegal immigrants are doing it?

You do not have a valid point. This is a country of LAWS. She broke the law and now must suffer the consequences of HER choices. If you don't like it, do something to change the LAW. They will take a US citizen to jail for not paying a speeding ticket, but a Mexican national who is here illegally will get to go free. As far as seperating families, it wasn't that important to them when they left Mexico. Now all the sudden its a top priority? The USA is actually putting those families back together (in their native land of Mexico).

"who are you to say who stays and who leaves" I never said who should stay or who should leave. Don't attempt to put words in my mouth I never said. Your childish response won't work on me. Who are you, Micho?
