PHOENIX -- Authorities say a man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a large-scale crack cocaine distribution ring in south Phoenix.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office said Thursday that Toren Watson was identified during a five-month multi-agency investigation.

The probe targeted gang members and others who allegedly were selling crack cocaine in the south Phoenix area.

At the time of his arrest, authorities say Watson was found to be in possession of about 3 pounds of crack cocaine. They say the drugs had an estimated street value of $40,000.

State prosecutors also say that Watson was found with $18,000 in cash and evidence that he was engaged in converting substantial quantities of powder cocaine into crack cocaine.
