Tyler Jeffrey Dotson. (Chandler Police Department)

A man was arrested Tuesday for leaving his 3-month-old child alone in an apartment.

Tyler Jeffrey Dotson, 26, was detained while officers were responding to reports of a burglary. Dotson was not involved in the burglary, but was found to be carrying narcotics. He told officers he left the child unattended.

Officers responded to Dotson's apartment and found the child. The apartment was left unlocked.

The child was in good health. Officers fed and changed the baby.

The child's mother, who was at work, was notified along with Child Protective Services.

Doston was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on drug and child abuse charges.
