About 230 pounds of cheese was seized by Border Patrol in New Mexico on Friday night.

"Individuals can import personal quantities of cheese, something in the 10 pound range," said Joane Thale-Lembo, CBP Santa Teresa Port Director.

A Ford F-150 was examined when it entered the facility from Mexico. CBP officers located three large ice chests inside the truck containing bundles of undeclared cheese.

The driver, a 50-year-old legal permanent resident from Aurora, Colo., paid the $300 civil penalty and departed.
