Deputy Ruben Garcia (Maricopa County Sheriff's Office photo)

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP)- A Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being shot in Peoria.

The suspect sought in the shooting has been found dead. He's identified as 54-year-old Donald Miller Sr. of Peoria.

Authorities identify the deputy as Ruben Garcia, who's a 29-year veteran.

He was shot multiple times in a Peoria lot early Tuesday after he stopped a man in a truck.

The man's former girlfriend had earlier called authorities to say he was suicidal.

Witnesses say they heard shots ring out and saw the deputy on the ground in the parking lot.

Two Peoria police officers, Lt. Steve Hadley and Officer Aaron brewer, spotted the suspect, who fired at officers and was then shot.

SWAT team officers ultimately found Miller dead in a vehicle. Authorities say it's still unclear if he committed suicide.

Paying taxes is not an excuse for not helping the needy. People have paid taxes ever since human government exists. Nope...not an excuse.

    I hope the
the MCSO deputy recovers. I really do. He then might go and solve one of the 400 sex crimes against children that Arpaio neglected...before anyone goes ballistic, he recognized his incompetence on camera.

Suicide by firearm is the most common
suicide mechanism among males, according to the Center for Disease Control, and contrary to what the usually wrong about things, Steve, declares. Women, lacking the male's lust for violence, most often poison themselves. Homes with guns in them are invitations to the unstable to act immediately on suicidal impulse, often dragging the innocent and uninvolved into their drama. Sensible gun owners see the signs and will temporarily remove their guns from the accessibility of the self endangering person. Gun nuts do not see the need. We all pay the price, family members and cops mostly.

based on most of your ranting posts, "Full of bitterness and anger. Maybe we should start paying attention to you...you might be the next to go-Postal." Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. Say what you like, I am very secure in my qualities as a human being, how bout you?

    I second what EYZEE said,
a hundred years from now, no one will care what we discussed in this forum. And I'm betting nothing will change based on anyone's comments in any of these forums. Half of us probably wouldn't have the nerve to say what we say unless we have the keyboard to hide behind. As Chemist says, "Food for thought."

Commentaries on social media and news media
sites have had profound effects on the recent direction of political thinking. EYZEE's "Why bother?" comment betrays his disappointing fatalism. People of influence do listen (read), and are sometimes influenced by what is said here. Some may admit to a fear of speaking their thoughts in the physical presence of others. This writer does not.

...I HOPE THE DEPUTY RECOVERS. I also regret that the perp killed himself (or was killed)...he got off easy and could not be sent to a trial. End of Story.

Doesn't seem Steve was wrong after all. He made correct points on popular ways to commit suicide as did you.
