Peoria's fifth annual Polar Plunge took place on Saturday.

According to the City of Peoria, participants swam in 42 degree water at Sunrise Mountain Pool to help raise awareness about water safety and preventing drownings in pools at any time of year.

Approximately 150 swimmers took part in this year's event.
