The Wall Street Journal has done the dirty work and discovered that half of the top 50 websites in America violate user privacy.
The sites researched all request registration. Among the findings, some sites send user email information to Google and Facebook; another site sent email information to "sites that had technology embedded on the page"; others may send date and year of birth and zip codes to third parties.
Some of the companies responded to the Journal inquiries saying they no longer used those "processes."
