The body of an unidentified man was removed from a Tempe canal on Thursday.
The body was located in the canal near Broadway and the Loop 101 after a resident notified police.
“We had a couple people who live in an apartment complex who noticed what they thought was a body floating in the canal,” said Mesa Fire Cpt. Forrest Smith.
Maricopa County Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said the man was likely middle-aged.
“We were able to tell the body is a male, 40- or 50-years-old, wearing blue jeans and a hoodie,” he said.
Enriquez said MCSO is not investigating the case as a homicide.
