PHOENIX -- A plane carrying four people made a safe emergency landing at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport after its nose gear malfunctioned.
The Arizona Republic reports that the pilot of the King Air first circled the airport Saturday to burn off fuel before trying to set down.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says that the nose gear didn't lock and it collapsed after the plane landed.
Gregor says that the plane was diverted from Scottsdale Airport to Gateway because of its longer runway after the problem became apparent.
Mesa Fire spokesman Ken Hall says four fire trucks and ambulances were stationed at Gateway in case of any problems.
