PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's political action committee reports receiving more than $900,000 in donations this year, including $250,000 from billionaire Las Vegas casino owner Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam.

A postelection campaign finance report for Brewer's committee discloses the Oct. 19 contribution from the Adelsons.

The Associated Press has reported the couple gave a total of $95 million in political donations during the election season.

Brewer's committee reported making large outlays in support or against various Arizona congressional candidates. Those included six-figure spending in support of Republican Jeff Flake's successful campaign for U.S. Senate

In all, the committee reports spending $680,000.

It reported having $245,000 cash left over.

    campaign funds are a waste
wouldnt it be nice if campaign funds were directed to pay down national debt? We could have a debt free country in no time. In fact we could eliminate taxes.

    Yeah . . .
I just hate when candidates get their campaign money from odd sources and then distribute in their favor. They all do it, but then, this is about the daily try-to-trash-Brewer campaign. Obama was of course the ultimate, most extreme example of how special interests can alter elections.

    You don't
think the "UNIONS" didn't help their special interest causes? The pendulum swings both ways. I agree with "surprise me" that it would be nice if campaign funds were directed to pay down the national debt. What did the press say? This was a two billions dollar campaign season. It would help, but it would take quite a long time to pay down a "sixteen trillion" dollar debt.

We elected a woman with a technical education certificate to head a state whose economy is larger than countries such as Israel, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, etc. I'm not surprised that the people who want to keep her in power are those who own casinos.
