Surprise man accused of stabbing wife

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- A man in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise has been arrested and accused of stabbing his wife.

Surprise police say 41-year-old Martin Hernandez was taken into custody Wednesday night.

He's accused of stabbing his wife multiple times during an argument in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.

Witnesses called police, who found Martin and the victim still at the scene.

The woman was transported and treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Martin was booked into jail on suspicion of domestic violence-related charges including aggravated assault.

They didn't immediately know Thursday if Martin had legal representation yet.
