PHOENIX -- A man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to stab a Chandler store employee with a screwdriver while also trying to steal $450 worth of electronics equipment.

Authorities said Fernando Luis Hinojosa, 18, is being held on suspicion of armed robbery, shoplifting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and criminal trespassing.

The Arizona Republic reported Wednesday that Hinojosa entered a Walmart and is said to attempted to stab a manager who tried to prevent him from leaving the store with the merchandise.

Authorities said Hinojosa fled on foot, but was caught within hours.
