A young New Mexico woman who made a plea on social media for help in finding her hat at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, is calling off the search.
The story of the floppy brown hat, which belonged to her mother who died of breast cancer when Bridget Hughes was 7, was lost late last month at the airport.
According to NPR, Hughes, a 23-year-old preschool teacher, announced Monday on Facebook that it’s time to move on.
She said that she emailed Sky Harbor to stop the search because she doesn’t believe the hat is there anymore.
Hughes also said, “We’ve got bigger fish to fry than a lost hat.”
She’s not giving up hope, though, that the hat will be returned.
