FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Authorities in northern Arizona say a Scottsdale man is dead after apparently committing suicide.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials said Tuesday that the 57-year-old man was found dead inside his vehicle parked at Fort Tuthill in Flagstaff.

They say the man appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

The name of the man hasn't been released yet.

Sheriff's officials say they received a call shortly before noon Saturday from a woman who said her boyfriend had just called her and made suicidal statements.

Deputies located the vehicle in the area of Fort Tuthill say they found a semi-automatic pistol in close proximity to the man.

They say he was taken airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center, where he later was pronounced dead.

Officials say the death is being investigated.
