MESA, Ariz. - The City of Mesa received $248,479 from Salt River Project for going green.

The city was involved in the SRP Standard Business Solutions and SRP Custom Business Solutions programs.

According to a release, Mesa conserved more than 3.1 million kilowatt-hours, which is enough electricity to power about 200 homes for a year.

The SRP programs offered rebates for new construction and energy-efficient projects.

Some projects put in place were installing LED streetlamps, occupancy lighting sensors and cool roof coatings for buildings.
