Arizona inmate executed after murdering 2 girls
FLORENCE, Ariz. -- An inmate convicted of murdering two 13-year-old girls has been executed in Arizona.
Richard Dale Stokley was put to death on Wednesday at a prison in Florence.
Stokley and another man were convicted of murdering Mandy Meyers and Mary Snyder in 1991 in rural Cochise County.
Both girls were raped, beaten, strangled and stabbed before being dumped in a partly flooded mine shaft.
The execution of the 60-year-old Stokley was Arizona's 34th since 1992. Daniel Cook was put to death on Aug. 8 in Arizona's most recent execution.
