Tucson police make arrest in armed robbery cases
TUCSON -- Police say they have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with numerous armed robberies throughout Tucson.
Sgt. Chris Widmer says Jose Cuevas was initially booked into the Pima County Jail on charges related to armed robberies that occurred last Sunday at a Denny's Restaurant and a Toys-R-Us store.
Detectives ended up filing more charges against Cuevas for a string of robberies at Food City stores and a Circle K convenience store over the past two months.
He's accused of robbing the same Food City store two days apart.
In each robbery, a handgun was brandished. During one robbery, police say the suspect fired a shot through the ceiling of the business.
Police say Cuevas is also facing charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
