A new report released Tuesday by the Pew Internet Project and Berkman Center for Internet & Society shows parents are concerned about their children's online activities and how it might affect their privacy.

The "Parents, Teens and Online Privacy" report found that 81 percent of parents are concerned about how much information advertisers can learn about their child's online behavior.

The report also said that 72 percent of parents are concerned how their child interacts online with people they don't know, particularly parents of children ages 12-13.

A number of parents said they are talking with their children or monitoring the activity on family computers.

Some parents are connecting and engaging with their teens on social media sites while others are passively observing them.

Start by being a parent and
set rules and monitor their activity. Parent first, friend second.

    Monitor your kids activities...
simple as that. Have a candid talk about sexually explicit pictures as well, one does not want to have to explain why their home computer has pictures of topless teens...not a good look for any adult. Don't forget you can typically deny access to certain sites via your router and with parental controls. Bottom line is that if you're not monitoring your kids internet activity then you're doing it wrong.
