PHOENIX -- Pima County has finally finished counting its election ballots while Maricopa County still has thousands to go.

Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell says 1,119 early ballots and 30,372 provisional ballots cast at the polls on Nov. 6 were tabulated Monday.

She says about 450 early ballots remain to be processed for tabulation along with some 34,000 provisional ballots.

Pima County Elections Department officials said they counted 566 ballots Monday, wrapping up the last remaining batch of provisional ballots.

The canvass of elections for both counties is Nov. 26.

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has scheduled a news conference Tuesday morning to update the status of outstanding ballots around the state.

He also is expected to discuss an upcoming post-election assessment of election procedures with Arizona's county recorders.
