More than 270,000 ballots remain to be counted in the state of Arizona, said Ariz. Sec. of State Ken Bennett in a Tuesday release.

In Maricopa County, there are 46,000 early ballots and 122,000 provisional ballots awaiting counting or verification, respectively.

A statewide canvass is scheduled for Dec. 3 to certify all election results.

    another reason why you dont want the government involved in your life. Look how they handle votes. They still count by hand like they did 500 years ago. Flintstone government. waste of time and money but that is what government is best at waste.

    I guess that's why news media reports on PROJECTED winners untill the election is certified and the winning candiates are consider 'office' elect until they are sworn in. If you look up election sites from municipalities, state and federal sites, all of them state how many precincts are reportting and state 'Unofficial results'.
