Phoenix firefighters are no longer heading to New York City to aid in the relief efforts from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

The Phoenix Fire Department confirmed Thursday night the task force team has been deactivated. They are no longer needed on the East Coast and aren't expected to be recalled.

The time difference and distance were determining factors in this decision. It is believed the Arizona team would not be needed in two days, which is how long it would take to get there.

Good call on this one PFD! How many meetings and $ did you use to figure out - NY LONG WAY -TRUCKS REAL SLOW- DANGER DONE IN 2 DAYS. Incredible the way cities and FIRE DEPTs can waste money and then complain about NO RAISES. Get a clue and a real job/business where every dollar counts.
