Tucson man sentenced in pool pump thefts
TUCSON, Ariz. -- One of three men accused of stealing and selling some 50 swimming pool pumps has been sentenced to probation and ordered to pay more than $41,000 in restitution.
The Arizona Daily Star says 35-year-old Brett Geraci was put on five years on intensive probation Monday.
Geraci pleaded guilty last month to one count of theft of property and two counts of attempted trafficking in stolen property.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, prosecutors say Geraci could have received between two to nearly nine years in prison.
Geraci and two other defendants allegedly stole and sold the pool pumps over a three-month period earlier this year. The other two men are awaiting sentencing.
Tucson police say the pumps included copper parts and were sold to metal-recycling businesses.
