About 100 Glendale police officers took part in a brief prayer ceremony this morning to honor Officer Brad Jones who died in the line of duty one year ago.

Jones' widow Cindy and their two small children attended the service at the Glendale Public Safety Memorial on Monday morning. They were presented with flowers and teddy bears.

Jones was shot outside an apartment complex while assisting a probation officer.

Glendale Assistant Police Chief Greg Dominguez spoke on behalf of the Jones family at the ceremony.

"You see his kids here today -- that's hard for us. To see them without a father. I'm not going to lie we're human too. It's not easy," he said.

A 24-hour police vigil ends Monday evening at 8:30 outside of the apartment complex where Jones was shot at 75th and Glendale avenues.
