PHOENIX -- Sen. John McCain said a new TV commercial by Democrat Richard Carmona gives the incorrect impression he's endorsing Carmona in the race for Arizona's open U.S. Senate seat.

The ad shows McCain and Sen. Jon Kyl making favorable comments about Carmona at a 2002 hearing over Carmona's confirmation as surgeon general.

The GOP senators endorsed Republican Jeff Flake in the race.

The spot never explicitly said the senators endorsed Carmona. Text on the screen said the comments were made at the 2002 hearing.

McCain countered that the ad gives the impression his comments were made recently.

McCain said he wasn't taking back his 2002 comments, but notes he had more faith in Carmona back then.

The Carmona campaign said the ad was never intended to give the impression the senators endorsed Carmona.

Carmona will be campaigning in southern Arizona this weekend, starting in Tucson on Saturday morning.

Like they have never done this.....
Interesting. For months, we have heard ad's from the Flake campaign, as well as every conservative PAC with a dollar to spend, using cut and paste sound bytes, or partial news paper (print) reports to make Flake seem like the next 'Ultra Conservative". The new Messiah for the Republican (Tea) Party. Now that Carmona has used actual video, with the disclaimer from when these comments were made in Carmona's favor (Carmona's Surgeon General confirmation hearings), now Flake is calling foul. Sorry Jeff. If it's good for the goose (Elephant), it's good for the gander (donkey).

Once again McCain has put Party before Country.
He has zero credibility. McC lost the ability to offer a respected endorsement when he chose to place that ditz Palin a heart-beat away from the Presidency!
