Scottsdale police warn women after 2 sex assaults
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police are warning women and seeking the public's help identifying suspects after two sexual assaults in the past week.
Police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said a man entered an apartment on Sahuaro Drive late on Oct. 18 through an unlocked patio door and sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman. A 29-year-old woman was assaulted in an apartment on 69th Street late Wednesday by a man who also came in through an unlocked patio door. He wore a shirt over his face during the assault but may have been scratched.
The first assailant was described as a lean, clean-shaven male in his late teens, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with and short hair. A witness gave a similar description of a man seen after the second assault.
Police said the man may have been stalking his victims.
"We have had cases in this area over the past few months where we are finding out now that there was a person similarly described who was seen lurking in bushes and the police were not called," said Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark.
KTAR's Sandra Haros contributed to this report.
