PHOENIX -- Maricopa County election officials say the wrong date was printed on several Spanish-language mailings containing new voter registration cards.

County Recorder Helen Purcell said earlier this week officials found nearly 50 cards had an incorrect date for the November election.

Officials have mailed nearly 2 million voter-ID cards throughout Maricopa County. The issue came up when a voter recently came to the election department noticed the error and requested an updated card.

Purcell's office says their program has been updated to reflect the right dates in both English and Spanish.

    Personally
I think that ballots should ONLY be printed in English. It makes absolutely no sense that we should have ANY citizens of this country who are not able to read English, especially if they are able to read another language. If we allow non-English speakers to become citizens, it should be up to them to learn to read and write English. By not doing this, we continue to support the self-segregation and isolation of these communities.

Americans citizens who do not speak English
enjoy the same rights as other Americans. They pay taxes and contribute equally to the public weal. Accommodations for something as fundamental as voting rights are sensible actions by our government. Some Americans think that other Americans should think, act, speak and look as they do. They try to pressure the government to enforce their code upon others. These oppressive impulses require the rest of us to practice eternal vigilance.

    All
Public government hearings, laws etc are in English. Ok if a citizen who has never grasped English is registered to vote ok. But what exactly do they understand about what they are voting on?

The uninformed will be surprised to learn that
There are widely available, non English news media in a variety of formats discussing the issues of the day in depth.

    Interestingly enough, many English speakers
Struggle with an understanding of science, geography, and the political events of the day.
