Pinal County spokesman in probe before resigning

FLORENCE, Ariz. - A Pinal County sheriff's department spokesman has been under investigation for misusing county resources before he resigned.
Sheriff's officials say Elias Johnson used a county vehicle to videotape the scene of a fugitive bust and did it without permission and while he was off-duty.
A report says Johnson told U.S. Marshals that he was a public information officer but did not tell them he was off-duty and now a sworn officer. He filmed the arrested without being asked.
Authorities say Johnson later admitted tipping off the news station about the arrest.
Authorities say those actions violated Pinal County Sheriff's Office policies.
Johnson resigned last week.
