TUCSON, Ariz. — Mormons in the Tucson area will finally have a temple of their own.

Church President Thomas S. Monson announced the new temple at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' conference in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

Tucson North Stake president Todd Polley says members have been praying for a temple of their own for a long time.

Southern Arizona church spokesman David Hoefferle (Heff-er-lee) says in a statement that even though there are 27 Mormon buildings in southern Arizona a temple is a special, quiet place where members go to find peace.

There are 73 Mormon congregations in the Tucson area with more than 30,000 members.

There are already three temples in Arizona and two are being built in Phoenix and Gilbert.

An expected opening date wasn't announced.

    Infiltrating??
Check your "source": the Mormon pioneers settled many towns/cities in AZ. But by all means, feel free to continue your personal exodus.
