TUCSON, Ariz. - Authorities say a motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a car that reportedly ran a stop sign in Tucson.

Pima County Sheriff's officials identify the victim as 61-year-old William Henry Swier.

They say he was riding a motorcycle about 8 a.m. Friday when a car ran a stop sign at West Lambert Lane.

Authorities say Swier was wearing a helmet and he was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver of the car hasn't been identified.

    Charge driver
with manslaughter. Tired of losing riders to idiots who drive cages running stop signs, red lights, turning left in front of you. Everytime a driver who is driving a cage causes an accident with a motorcycle should be charged with attempted or straightout manslaughter.

    My sister rides
they are incredibly dangerous (cycles) cars, they just don't SEE them! It's as if our eyes are trained to just notice big boxes and not motorcycles. It's not at all fair, but that's just how it is. I for one always tell people not to ride a cycle at all as they are just too darn dangerous imagine hitting a dog in the road on one, let alone worrying about cars running lights and sudden death. You get thrown off a bike, good chance you're going to be severely injured. Bikes are nice, but deadly. don't let your loved ones get one.
