PHOENIX -- A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the dragging death of a Glendale girl last year.

Maricopa County prosecutors said Lino Chavez, 19, entered his plea in the case Wednesday. His mitigation hearing and sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 7.

Chavez and another man were arrested in the April 2011 death of Anita Munoz, 16, a high school student.

Police believe Chavez and the other man robbed Munoz of her laptop.

After struggling with the girl, detectives said the suspects tried to drive away. They said Munoz grabbed onto the vehicle from an open window on the driver's side. Police said she was dragged and then fell and struck her head. She died several days later.
