Girl says she was groped at haunted house attraction
PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a complaint by a teenage girl that she was inappropriately touched at a haunted house attraction.
The girl had been at Fear Farm near 99th Avenue and McDowell Road.
According to the Sheriff's Office, organizers of these events hire security and often retain off-duty police or deputies to help maintain the peace.
"There are going to be isolated incidents. We do everything we can to prevent those and make these places safe. A lot of these companies do everything in their power to make sure that they're safe," said Chris Hegstrom with MCSO.
Calls to Fear Farm management from 92.3 KTAR were not returned. Managers did speak with ABC15 and according to its website,
"Managers at Fear Farm tell us they've told their staff to start taking a look at the groups that they are letting into the haunted houses.
They will be looking at gender and age and separating people when appropriate and the courtyard will also be limited to just paying customers. Before, the courtyard was open to everyone."
