FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — State police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a man who may have been lying in the middle of a northern Arizona interstate.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officer Carrick Cook says the driver may not have known he hit the man about 8 p.m. Saturday night in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Flagstaff.

Officers found 22-year-old Tee Yazzie of the Navajo Nation community of Leupp (loop) dead near the 4th Street overpass. His injuries appear to show he was lying down when hit, possibly by a semi-truck.

The driver could already be in California or Nevada.

Charges are unlikely but state police need to speak with the driver or anyone who saw Yazzie Saturday to complete their investigation. The DPS number is (928) 773-3700.
